The “Arts” are an important component of education as they improve academic achievement – enhancing test scores, attitudes, social skills, critical and creative thinking. They merge the learning of process and content. They integrate mind, body, and spirit and develop both independence and collaboration. Imani offers many opportunities to participate in Visual and Performing Arts.
Students are given the opportunity to participate in plays and dramatic performances. These activities develop self-confidence and teache teamwork, responsibility, and self-discipline. Drama is an essential component of our student’s growth where they learn to improvise, act, observe, imagine, and express themselves creatively.
Music has long been considered an essential part of a well-rounded education. Our music program is designed to give students a wide range of exposure to different musical genres and styles. Our activities develop each student’s natural ability through performing, singing, and playing musical instruments. Liturgical Dance, African Drumming and plays/skits are all essential components of the music curriculum.
