A.J. Haslip - Class of 2009
"Having attended the school from Kindergarten through 12th grade, I would say Imani is my life. I discovered God there, built my character there, made lifelong friends, and received an incredible education. It is safe to say Imani had a big hand in creating the A.J. that people see today. I will be forever grateful for what Imani has instilled in my heart, mind and spirit."
A.J. graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Criminology degree and a minor in IT. He works at the Cork Factory Lofts while exploring job opportunities for his dream job in computer forensics.
Khari Hicks Jr. - Class of 2013
“Imani changed my life for real. I grew up in East Hills, a city that’s mainly known for violence and drugs. Before I had a clue about Imani, I was following the bad path I saw many others take and I started to become influenced by that environment. I thought that was the right way to live. I thought I was going to end up in jail. Then one day a man named Elder E told me there’s more to life than the streets. The next week, I transferred schools and became an Imani student. The teachers here care about you outside of school also. They are there for you whatever you need, just ask. If you need to just sit down and talk, they’ll do that with you. They introduced me to Christ and put in my head that I am great and can do whatever I want in this world. There are so many father, mother, sister, and brother figures I gained from Imani and I can honestly say that I love the school. It’s home and always will be. Up until this day they keep in touch with me to make sure I’m on the right track and doing what I need to do. I am currently a junior at Penn State looking forward to graduating and starting my own business after hopefully playing professional basketball overseas. I couldn’t have done it without Imani. Thanks for everything.”
A 2013 graduate of Imani, Khari Hicks Jr. is currently a junior working towards a master’s degree in business with a minor in journalism at Penn State Greater Allegheny, where he works at Bruegger’s Bagels and plays for the basketball team.
