ELEMENTARY STUDENT TESTIMONIALS
“I really love the staff, and I think the way the principal and staff conduct themselves in such a loving, caring environment sets Imani apart from all other schools. They have such a caring element.”
– Frankie Harris, parent of a first grade student

“I have always wanted to go to Imani. No bad things happen at Imani. I like the teachers and I get good grades at Imani.”
– Tydasha Wilson, 3rd grade student

“Alize has been through a lot. She had low self-esteem, screamed a lot, she was a sad child, she was a self-hurter. She hated going to school and kicked and screamed every morning. I had to dress her to get her to go to school. If she didn't do her work she just failed. She would come home and cry and say she didn't want to go back the next day. The other school didn't seem to care. When she came to Imani she received compassion. She was taught one-on-one at Imani. She is excited to go to Imani everyday. She jumps up, runs to the shower and prepares herself for school everyday. Imani's love and compassion has made a big difference. She has very high self-esteem. She is a happy child and she trusts people now, and it has made a difference. She didn't like staying home during the snow days. She woke up wondering why she couldn't go to school!”
– Monique Shorter, adopted parent of 4th grade student

“I like Imani better than my old school because the people at Imani are not mean and they help you. The students don't try to fight you, and I came to Imani in the 3rd grade.”
-- Sierra Ware, 6th grade student

UPPERCLASSMEN TESTIMONIALS
“My Imani experience has been cool. It has had its ups and downs but it has still been good because there are a lot of African American teachers. They care about you and take care of you. Imani is the first school I have been to that the teachers really care. Anywhere else I have been the teachers don’t take their time with you and sit down and talk to you. If Imani sees you failing, they will help you rise back up to the top.”
– Robert Lawson, 9th grade student

My Imani experience has been excellent. I changed spiritually because I never used to pray for people out loud and there is this ritual we do before class and a part of that is praying. So one day, I just came to class wanting to pray because I had gotten used to everyone and I wasn’t shy anymore. I changed emotionally when I started helping other people and began caring about them and their feelings. My teachers encouraged me by telling me they could see how much I had grown.”
– Tiawnya Miller, 9th grade student

“Imani is a place where the teachers care and education is enforced. It is an exodus of sorts; a way out of a bad situation. When I first came, I didn't feel like I had dreams and now I have dreams again! I haven't been this happy in a long time, especially when it comes to school.”
– Benjamin Powell, 10th grade student

"Imani cares about people and they take education seriously. They are spiritual and they really treat you like you are family!”
– Sean Williams, 10th grade student

“My experience at Imani has been great and I enjoy being here. This school is better than any school I have been to. At my other school, the teachers wouldn’t care if you got the lesson or not. The teachers would also pretend that they cared for you then when your final report card comes out, they put your grades down so you’ll fail. Some of the teachers would even lie to parents about their child’s GPA. At Imani, I have learned things that I would have never learned in any other school. The teachers at Imani also help you one-on-one so you can learn more about the subject they are teaching.”
– Dorian Jones, 11th grade student

“I went to a public school before coming to Imani. When I came to Imani, I noticed how the teachers really took interest in me and cared about me. That showed me that the teachers in my other school really didn't care. You can talk to the teachers at Imani if you need to. They encourage you. I have learned a lot about God. I have learned at Imani that it's okay to be different. At the other school, I was made fun of. I have been at Imani since the 8th grade and I will be a senior this year. I'm excited about my future.”
– Chevaughnne Bronaugh, 12th grade student

“Imani helped me academically by pushing me to strive for excellence and believing in me. I know that without a doubt, if I were to attend a different school, I wouldn’t get the same love I receive at Imani Christian Academy. The teachers here may be hard at times but I know it’s out of love and determination to make us Imani students succeed in life. Even in my worst of times, Imani was there for me and wrapped around me like my own family. I respect Imani because Imani shows me nothing but respect back. Imani gave me faith. Now I believe more in my future and now I have life goals that I want to accomplish and with the Imani experience that I had, I know I will accomplish them.”
– David Hamm, 12th grade student

“Imani has changed me spiritually, academically and socially. Imani has changed me spiritually in a way that I would never have imagined. I came from little faith in myself and also in God and now I am proud to say that Imani has made a big change in my faith in God and myself. Imani changed me academically in that I went from not really caring if I did my work or got good grades to putting forth an effort to try and not give up. Imani changed me socially because I’m not always open minded about taking instructions from someone who is trying to help me better myself or to teach me.”
– Dasia Banks, 12th grade student

“I started my years here at Imani Christian Academy at the age of 12 in 2006. I am very blessed to be here and if I ever had the chance to change schools I would not because this school has made me a better person than ever, mentally, spiritually and academically. I would not trade this school for the world. It really means a lot to me. Imani has taught me so much, and not just academically, but they helped me find my way to Christ, which is the biggest gift of all. With them doing that, they led me to believe that no task is too small and no task is too large and that I can do all things through Christ. Imani has changed me for the better and I thank God for placing me in this place full of joy, love and happiness.”
– Quintayla Hill, 12th grade student

“My name is T.K. Williams and there’s so much that Imani has done for me. The unconditional love of Jesus Christ is here, as this school loves, loves and loves. No matter how much I struggled or failed or appeared to disappoint, this school has never given up on me and the destiny Jesus the Lord has called me to. What I’ve come to learn more and more by the years and has become a part of me, is that what Jesus calls you to and says about you is what you are. It may not appear to be that during hard times or you may feel like it’s all an illusion, but what He says is substance. Jesus sees us all the same with His perfect love. He doesn’t look at our faults and judge according to those faults. He died and made the ultimate sacrifice for us because of His love for us and rose from the dead. That shows that it’s never too late for anyone because He paid the ultimate cost for us, and Imani Christian Academy shows that love to all of their students. I live my life hidden inside of His grace and mercy. We are all His disciples and we should all show the same love and affection Jesus has shown to Imani and to all His treasure.”
– Thomas K. Williams, 12th grade student
